What is PUF?

Program Unit Funding is funding allocated by Alberta Education to provide evidence-based Early Intervention Programming for preschoolers with developmental delays.

PUF Eligibility

  • Children aged 2.8 yrs - 6 years on the 1st day of September are eligible for early intervention

  • SLP, Psychology, and/or Pediatrician assessments and diagnostic reports are required. Assessment scores and diagnostic statements determine eligibility

  • Foundation 4 partners with Inspiration Station Preschool.

  • Alberta Ed supports early intervention for 3 years max. Children born between Sept 1 - Dec 31 land in ‘a bubble’. Parents need to work with our team to develop a reasonable 3 or 4 year plan.

Professional Services

Certificated Teachers, Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP), Occupational Therapists (OT), Physical Therapists (PT), Psychologists and Behaviour Therapists.

Para-Professionals

Special Needs Facilitators support identified children in class. Their role is to make accommodations to the environment and expectations so that the child is able to participate independently in the routines of the classroom.

Individualized Program Plan - IPP

An IPP is a document created for all children who are eligible for PUF grants. The IPP lists the goals for the child and strategies for achieving those goals. IPP’s are ‘living’ documents and are developed in collaboration with parents and classroom staff. Parents are expected to attend 3 IPP reviews per year.
